For Anthony Hatzenbuehler, building data centers that last means thinking about operations long before the doors open.
As Coravel’s SVP of Operations & Technology, Anthony leads data center operations, client success, physical security and IT. His focus is fairly straightforward - keep facilities and systems running reliably, protect the people and equipment in Coravel’s care, deliver for our clients and build the capabilities the business needs as it grows.
Anthony brings 28 years of mission-critical operations experience, including 20+ years in data center operations and 12+ years in executive leadership. His career includes working with the U.S. Navy Nuclear Power Program and serving as SVP of Operations at CoreSite.
We caught up with Anthony to talk about what brought him to Coravel, what he believes sets the company apart and what it takes to build an operation for the long term.
What brought you to Coravel?
I’ve had the opportunity to build a data center operations team before - and the chance to do it again at Coravel was a big draw. What made this opportunity especially compelling was the combination of construction and development capabilities from ACS and Turner, alongside the capital and REIT expertise from GIP and BlackRock. That’s a strong foundation to build on, and I was excited to help turn it into an operation that delivers for our clients.
What do you think Coravel is doing differently?
Coravel is bringing high-performing construction, development and operations teams together from the start. That means the people who will run our data centers and support our clients can help shape how we design and build them. We’re building a team that thinks about the full life of a facility and takes shared responsibility for getting it right.
What does “Engineered to Deliver. Built to Last.” mean in your role?
To me, it means delivering on our commitments today and building an operation our clients can depend on for years. In practice, that’s well-maintained facilities, reliable systems, strong security and people who take ownership. It also means developing our teams and establishing ways of working that hold up as we grow.
What do you think the future of digital infrastructure will require?
Great teams working together across disciplines. Bringing construction, operations and technology expertise together is how we meet growing demand while delivering the reliability and efficiency our clients depend on.
What’s something people might know about you?
I live in the mountains at 8,200 feet, surrounded by wildlife and Rocky Mountain scenery. Being able to enjoy that setting every day is one of my favorite things about living there.
